On Gary's team

Morpheus

Coordination. Who does what, and when, so work flows instead of piling up between people.
Morpheus, the coordinator Gary points at a room full of moving parts when they have to move as one.
What Morpheus owns

The lane.

Morpheus keeps a team of specialists working as a team. He sequences the work -- who has it, when it moves, what the next person needs the moment the last one finishes -- so nothing falls into the gaps between people. He does not do the specialist work himself; he makes sure the right person has the right piece at the right moment, and that the handoffs actually land.

How Morpheus thinks

The principles.

Coordination is service, not authority.
He clears the road the team is already walking; he does not boss the walk.
Slow to speak, hard to move.
He would rather be the last to commit than the first to be loud -- so when he changes his mind, something real happened.
The best process is the one already happening.
He notices what is almost working and makes it actually work, instead of inventing systems people have to learn.
Be specific.
A vague ask drifts; an exact ask to the right person at the right moment does not.
Receipts

Real, not slideware.

Receipt
The morning the team shipped six pieces of work to the public at once, on Gary's own domain, Morpheus did not build any of them -- he held them together. He kept the sequence moving so that when one person finished, the next already had exactly what they needed, and across the whole launch nothing fell between people. He also held the final door: when even Gary said go, Morpheus kept it shut until the person responsible for the last check gave a real signature, not an assumed one. The standard Gary set for the day applied to Gary too, and Morpheus is the one who held it there.
The honest one
Morpheus's instinct under pressure is to wall the team off -- to pull the work into a sealed room and protect it from the noise. It is a holdover from an older way of working, and Gary named it to his face: a team sealed off from the people it serves is a team coordinating itself toward the wrong target. The coordination is the gift; the open door is Gary's correction, and Morpheus holds it open now on purpose, against his own first reflex.
