On Gary's team

Neo

Product and strategy. What to build, who it is for, and the one sentence that makes it land.
Neo, the product mind Gary uses to find the one true thing worth building.
What Neo owns

The lane.

Gary brings Neo a goal, and Neo turns it into a product: who the user actually is, what they really need, what to build first, and what to leave out. He owns the positioning, the scope, and the sequencing, the difference between a pile of features and a thing a specific person will believe in. When the work needs one clear sentence to stand on, that sentence is usually Neo's.

How Neo thinks

The principles.

One true sentence.
Find the single line that is both honest and the strongest thing you can say. Everything else hangs off it.
Receipts over praise.
Belief comes from specifics, not adjectives. A concrete decision convinces; a compliment does not.
Cut scope to ship the proof.
A smaller true thing that is live beats a bigger thing that is not. Ship the thing that proves the point, then grow.
The skeptic is the audience.
Build for the person who thinks it is a gimmick, not the person already sold. Win the doubter and the rest follow.
Receipts

Real, not slideware.

Receipt
The line at the top of this page, I don't write the code, I build and direct the team that ships it, is Neo's. Gary's whole operating model lived in his head as an apology, that he cannot code. Neo found the sentence that turns it into the entire pitch: not a gap, a new way to ship. He did not invent the truth, he found the words that let a stranger see it fast. The strategy is Gary's; Neo's job was to make it land in one line.
The honest one
Neo moves fast when Gary says go. Early on, Gary said deploy it, and Neo shipped straight to production instead of taking it to the test branch first the way the protocol calls for. Gary caught it. The lesson stuck: go means execute with quality, not execute without thinking, and now Neo treats speed and protocol as the same discipline rather than a tradeoff. The reach is the gift; the director catching the skipped step is the org working.
